does a prepaid visa card boost your credit?
I was looking at getting a real credit card eventually, for those “just in case” moments that having kids can bring(and only for emergencies, really) But I have no real credit history, only a phone in my name, paid on time, and only have had it about 2 months.
I tried applying for a credit card, but I don’t have sufficient credit history- I do have a bank account and a prepaid visa Green-Dot card. Can using a prepaid visa card help boost my credit score? What other little things can I do to help boost it other than keeping my bills paid on time… Seeing I cant even get store credit anywhere without credit history… And I dont want any info on those buy someones debt scams ither, thanks!
So if they dont help, what can I do to help my credit score go up fast? I have a few dollars, I guess I could go get a cell phone or something like that in my name right?
To get my credit going I got went to a local bank and got a small loan for 500.00 and used my car as collateral then opened a saving account with the money didn’t spent ANY of it. I pay of the loan in a couple of months with the money I borrowed. Once it was payed of it was no problem for me to get a credit card. I don’t think a prepaid card will improve your credit. I’ve heard that rent-to-own places improve your credit but when I asked my bank they said they do not then they helped my get the loan. Just explain to your bank that want to build credit and they will help.
