transfering credit card balance?

i currently owe loads of money on a credit card. i went through a stupidly irresponsible moment a while ago and now i can only afford the minimum payments. the problem with this is i pay this but the high interest rates mean most of what i pay is put back on the bill in the next statement. i feel like i am getting nowhere,
i was speaking to someone about this and they suggested trying to find a card with 0% for 12 months and transferring the balance.
what i want to know is how easy would this be and what the best cards out there to apply for?

It is very easy to do. Just have the account numbers and amounts you want to pay ready when the time comes to transfer. Remember, do not reuse the accounts you pay off. Put the cards up in the closet in a box or safe or somethinglike that. Alot of people get into trouble with that. Also, be sure to pay the new redit card off in 12 monthly payments to avoid the large interest which normally comes due at the end. Read your agreement carefully and ask about the fees that may be involved in balance transfers.
