I wanted to get a credit card to supplement my travel money,…advice?

Im going traveling through asia and i know , i do ahve my own money but i know at some point i iwll probably run out and thus need something to fall back on .I was going to avoid the bulk of overseas charges by transfering the balance to my nationwide flex account , i wont be able to start paying it back for 6-8 months cause i have to get back and get working again. what one would i get the best deal on , i.e. lowest apr and percentage on balance transfers. how do you know how long it is before you have to start paying them back ?
