chase credit cards for students
I cant get another student credit card??

I have a student credit card from Chase that I’ve had for about 4 months, and I always pay my credit card, way before my due date and pay it alot. I pay it throughout the month and make sure I’m never over my limit.

I’d like to get one more student card for just gas purposes, and no other credit card will let me, they keep declining me. And I have no idea why….I thought I was doing everything right. My friends who are always keeping thier bill high on student cards…are getting raises and Credit Cards out the ying yang.

Am I hurting my credit by applying for these cards? I tried to get a credit limit raise on mines but they wont let me? When will I be able to? And what am I doing wrong?

Yes, you are hurting your credit by applying so much. Especially in such a short period of time. You’ve only had a credit card for 4 month, and have no credit. Additionally, your spent/limit ration may be high. Wait a year, for your credit and payment history gets on your credit report and then reapply. For a single card. Try not to put in more than about 2 applications a quarter.

Many credit card companies have a minimum income level to be approved.

Take one of your declined credit notices and get a copy of your credit report fromthe three reporting agencies for free – you can do that as long as you request within 45 days.

BTW, if you’re in school, it’s best to only have a single credit card. If you have two, it’s easy to loose track of your spending, spend too much and then find yourself in financial trouble. Many people your age do not understand how to handle credit.
