how many airline points does it take to get free airline tickets.?

I want to take the family to Disney in Florida. I wondered if it would be worth my while to get a Credit card with airline miles and charge everday things like shopping and groceries and pay it off every month. Can a person get anything in just 5 or 6 months of using a airline points based card such as Delta sky miles american express? If so what card is the best and accumulates points the fastest? Does the reward pay for the whole ticket? Just thought Id ask.

It generally costs 25,000 points for a round trip ticket to the continental US. It can be a good deal providing you 1) Don’t pay for the card (annual fees make it a bad deal) and 2) Never, ever miss paying it all off before due. Allow at least a week extra for them to process your payment. In 5 or 6 months you probably won’t spend 25,000 times the number of people to travel, but over a number of years it can pay off. The question you should ask yourself is “Can I never miss paying the whole amount off each month – not even once?” If the answer is no, then don’t do it.
