Share ideas on budgeting family system?
We are trying to establish a family budget that can stick to, without additional time lot. We know how to set our budget, but the hard part is sticking to it, mainly for the diverse elements which are not fixed (food, travel Target, Home Depot, etc …). We have control over our fixed expenses (mortgage, insurance, phone, Credit Cards, etc. ..). But every month we surprised at how much we spend on "other." We use our debit cards for everything and may have considered the case of certain system items as grocery stores, entertainment, etc. Any ideas or suggestions based on their experience of what works and what does not. Fyi … Littles have two one in the house so our time is limited and does not really want to use an online system or Quicken or something that requires much more time inputing, categorization, etc..
I have one piece advice that has helped tremendously. I do not buy ONE THING THAT IS NOT ON THE LIST! Which means I have to take 5-10 minutes to write a list with my high-tech boom paper. You have no idea how much money I saved.
