Disney Chase Credit Cards Online
I just canceled a credit card I have not used in three years, how does this affect me?
I just opened a new Disney Rewards Card Chase and Citi transferred balance-about $ 2500. I realized when I went to register online Chase had another card that has not been used in about three years. I called and after a lot of writing of the person Chase closed my account. I have an excellent credit score, but is this going to get my credit score down? Citi card I have yet to open or should I remove it?
Some of the posters have done good things about whether the closure has affected the card in your account but here's my take on it. When you close an account 2 factors affect your score, credit available and the length of time the card is opened what can affect the mean age of the accounts. Based on what your question, if you have not used the Chase card three years, that tells me you have to have had this card for more time than to obtain the Citi that transferred the balance, so it would have meant that the card was one of the oldest card you had. In this case could affect your score. I know 20/20 hindsight, but what could have been done instead of opening another account, trying to change the card that was at one of Disney you just opened. Now, that does not mean that Chase would not work for them (I work for one of its competitors), so do not know if it's entirely possible. It too late to reopen the account to retrieve the history it once had, but at least now you have an idea. I just read the post in your other question, and yes a card a limit of $ 9,500 has been opened for more than five years could have a serious effect on your score.
