No, not completely free.
However, to get a basic credit report from the 2 main credit agencies only costs £2, and you can pay by postal order, so you don’t need a credit card.
The links to the £2 report from each company are shown below.
Note that Experian do offer a free credit check, but you need to have a credit card to sign up, and then cancel before 30 days is up, so without a credit card you couldn’t take up this offer.
