Canceling gym membership ?

To make a long story shorter : Last October I signed a one year agreement with Ladies Workout express.( unfort.)
Due to my economic situation, I needed to cancel it , starting Jan 2009.
They said that the only way they can do that is to show them a proof of moving in an area where there is no LWD facility in a 25 miles area.
And that they will accept a copy of a major credit card statement for proof. I managed to “change” my address :) to an address located over those 25 miles requested, so I show them my checking account statement. Not accepted ! They said they will accept the long distance phone bill, I faxed it , after 5 days, NOT ACCEPTED, and when I was getting ready to send a credit card statement they come and say that they WILL ONLY accept an utility bill ! Now, my friends cannot add my name on their bill anymore ( there are already two names on each bill ).It looks like they do not want to accept my “proofs”.
Any advice , please ?
Sorry for the long story :(

Send them a certified letter with all of the proof (Phone bill, Credit Card Statement, and your Checking account statement) make sure you white out the account numbers. Also if you have a copy of your new lease or rental contract include that. Find your original gym contract and highlight the section that deals with canceling. Send all of this with a typed letter telling them that this should be sufficient evidence of your move and that per their contract you are demanding to have the contract canceled immediately. Tell them that if they do not respond within 10 days you will consider the account rightfully canceled. Remind them that if they breach their contract you will be contacting your lawyer and it will cost them far more than your monthly dues.
