Lump sum or pay-out of Credit Cards maximum credit score increase?

My husband and I have bad credit. I requested a report last year (the year free) and I'm back in June. Our credit ratings at the time were in the low 600 and probably will be lower this year with a loss of employment. I have an opportunity through an inheritance to pay off our credit card 58K (yes 58K) in a single payment. My question is, what is the best way to proceed? I have read that if you pay all the debt, you can work with creditors to eliminate past negative reports. Then I read that that is not true and you are better to pay more than a year, etc. Set to pay more than the minimum and take your balance down. As we are a couple older and want to make sure that if we can optimize this opportunity to do the best we can to increase our score. Any suggestions?

As help to increase your score the most in the shortest amount of time focusing on the debt, as in, how to make lump sum. But the age of accounts is also an element of credit scores, and time is maintained in the payment history rather than make sure you create, but that takes time. But to pay more the minimum mean less money in your pocket will be of interest. I can not give advice based on your age. I'm not in that mindset. Some creditors agree to eliminate the negative, others believe it is their duty to the world of credit to keep the negatives in your report to that naturally fall. Never hurts to ask yes.
