How to start my credit score?

I am currently under chase right now. I went to one of the chase banks near my house and tried to apply for a credit card. They said that Credit Cards are only for people with good credit. I told them about the Secured Credit Card and they said that Chase did not like the idea and canceled the accounts. So I tried Bank of America and they said that I need to have an account with them to apply for a Unsecured or Secured Credit Card. Bank of America is kinda far from my house and I don’t drive. So, what do you think I should do? Open an account at Bank of America? or is there any other ways to start credit score? There is also a card that I am looking at from Chase. It’s the Sudent Credit Card from Chase. Do you guys know anything about this card?
