If you have a bank account you will get the best exchange rate by using your atm card to get euros out of the banks in europe. Credit Cards for shopping are best too, or get an american express travel card – you can have the ‘rents load it up with moola. Note that in England they use pounds not euros. The usual Credit Cards are accepted: amex, mastercard, visa… these are not third world countries you are visiting.

T-Mobile is the best company to go with for a phone. If you already have a T-Mobile world phone you can pop into any TMobile shop abroad and get a sim card to switch out while you’re there. It is “pay as you go.” Pingo.com is a good phone card you can purchase and load online for really cheap calls back to the US so you can stay in touch your parents.

Stop obsessing over your hair and have a good time.

You will look like a tourist, so forget about trying not to look like a tourist. Instead look like a tourist that is not a target. Pay attention. Keep and eye on your surroundings and your belongings. Do not wave hand fulls of cash around. You can get a money belt to wear under your clothes for added safety.

You would need to bring in a whole lot of stuff to get charged at customs. An ordinary amount of souvenirs is not going to throw up a red flag.

Have a great time kiddo.
